The Cheesy Way to Steal Christmas

For its "winter program", Ridgeway Elementary School in Dodgeville, Wisconsin attempted to steal Christmas by rewriting "Silent Night" into "Cold in the Night" with lyrics that include:
Cold in the night,
no one in sight,
winter winds
whirl and bite,
how I wish I were happy and warm,
safe with my family out of the storm.
Fortunately, a law firm dedicated to protecting religious freedom -- Liberty Counsel -- came to the rescue. They sent a letter to the school advising them that "Silent Night" is constitutional, but "Cold in the Night" is not. If the school didn’t remedy the situation, Liberty Counsel threatened legal action.

Liberty Council’s President, Mathew D. Staver, explained:

"When a public school intentionally mocks Christian Christmas songs by secularizing their content, they cross the line from a neutral position, which the Constitution requires, to a hostile position, which the Constitution forbids."
Fortunately, the school has decided to put "Christmas" back into the Christmas Carol. "Silent Night" is back in the show.

It's about time the good guys have an organization such as Liberty Counsel to help to repar the damage to society that liberals have perpetrated with the assistance of organizations like the ACLU.

Too often people in charge of public entities don't want to cave to the demands of the left but as a practical matter are forced to in order to avoid massive legal costs and negative publicity brought on by ACLU sponsored legal action.
