Let The People Vote

Republicans take note. The people want to vote.

KSTP released a poll of 500 adults regarding the issue of sports stadiums:

63% believe the people should vote on any tax hike proposal.

51% support funding the Gopher's stadium through naming rights, stadium fees, and a land swap deal. Only 31% support funding it with another tax. (Is this the DFL base? Gotta love those who favor more taxes over private sector funding.)

57% support a plan to pay for a Twins stadium with a metro-wide sales tax hike. 29% supported funding with a sales tax hike limited to Hennepin County. (One wonders if 285 of those 500 polled were from Hennepin County.) DFL Senate Majority Leader Dean Johnson is proud of this result. Hey Dean! Check out the next poll question.

65% think taxpayer money SHOULD NOT be used to fund any professional sports stadium.

What's the moral of this poll. If you want to get re-elected, don't force a tax down the voters throats. Let the people vote on whether their money should be used to build playgrounds for mega-million dollar players.
