New Brighton Budgetball - Game On

The New Brighton City Council meets tonight at 6:30 at City Hall. It is also the metaphorical start of the 2007 city Budgetball game.

On the agenda is debate whether or not to spend a lot of taxpayer money to commission a phone survey to measure the reaction of the people to increased taxes and spending. This sort of survey can be very self-serving and could very easily end up providing political cover for the mayor and the liberals on the council who are gearing up to tax and spend. Council Members Doffing and Bauman look out for the interests of the taxpayer, but they are unfortunately outnumbered by the libs.

Last December, as noted in the "Long Hot Summer" post, the taxpayers had a 9th inning rally that reduced the taxes from obscene to merely outrageous. This year let's get rolling in the first inning and not let the game get out of hand. Please pass the word and try to attend the meeting tonight if you possibly can to show the council that we meant it last December and will really mean it when the next election comes along.
