Satveer Chaudhary Deserves to be a Former Senator
In 100 words or less, what makes Satveer Chaudhary such a poor senator? Basically he is an unapologetic liberal who believes that society is better off with a government that makes the major decisions that impact day-to-day living instead of letting the people run their own lives. Couple this (dare I say "socialist") view with what appears to be his arrogant belief that, whatever the situation, he knows better than the people he represents what is "good" for them and it paints a pretty clear picture of what Senator Chaudhary is all about and why he needs to be ousted.
Just for grins and giggles, try phoning or e-mailing the senator with a message that indicates either agreement or disagreement with his position on a given issue. From personal experience I have found that if you agree with him (he occasionally gets an issue right, even if for the wrong reasons--e.g. eminent domain) one may receive a worthless "thank you for sharing your views" acknowledgment. If you give any indication that disagree with him you'll receive absolutely no return communication, not even the condescending "thanks for sharing". I base this assertion on several attempts over the years to get the senator to respond to questions on his position where I specifically requested a reply. It's obvious that if you don't agree with him the senator considers you a waste of his time.
Don't expect a whole lot more if you ever get the privilege to chat with the good senator in person when he comes knocking on your door in pursuit of a vote. On the couple of occasions I have spoken with him, when it became clear he wasn't going to get my vote he appeared to take the attitude that he could win the election without my vote and didn't need to waste his time talking to me.
If one looks at the senator's ratings from various interest groups over the past few years it is pretty obvious that he views his constituents not as individuals with many complex life situations, needs and desires, but as members of various political interests. His formula is very simple--he has some groups he likes and some he dislikes. He will vote in favor of given legislation, regardless of how good or bad it may be for his constituents as a whole, if it is being promoted by an group or political block he likes (i.e. one that gives him money and support) and will vote against legislation promoted by a group he doesn't like.
In general, the senator likes groups that tend to expand and consolidate the power and influence of government over those that promote freedom and individual liberty. This is clearly reflected in how he answered questions for the National Political Awareness Test. His answers show that he clearly favors big government over individual liberty.
These views, along with his extreme liberal voting record and history of legislative obstructionism (more on this in later posts) should serve as grounds for disqualification for Senator Chaudhary to retain his office. After enduring four arduous years of this clown occupying the District 50 seat in the Minnesota Senate, the people of the district have the opportunity to dump this self-serving liberal along with his left-wing special interest baggage in favor of Rae Hart Anderson, who will put the interests of the District 50 citizens first.
Rae is a long time professional in the health care industry who brings an incredible amount of energy and strong personal beliefs in liberty and conservative principles to the table. She will be a welcome change who will return the focus of the office to serve the interests of the people of District 50 rather than those of the AFL/CIO, NARAL, Education Minnesota, and the other liberal special interests that Chaudhary appears beholden to.

I disagree with "right hooks" unfair attack on Senator Satveer Chaudhary. I emailed Senator Chaudhary several times in the last couple of years expressing my concerns regarding the concerns that are important to the citizens of this district such as education, transportation, health care, taxes, etc. and I promptly received honest intelligent answers from him. He has my support for re-election. We need more of his type in our State Legislature. One who does not bow down to the special interests.
Re: Comments by W DeCoursey
I wish to extend my thanks to W DeCoursey for reading our blog and taking the time to respond. Your comments, though I disagree with them, are a good example to others who disagree with the views here on how to participate in a civil discussion without resorting to profanity, name calling, or vapidity. Intelligently expressed contrary views add value to the blog as they encourage thinking and helps to avoid the perceived rut that the posts are just "preaching to the choir". I encourage you to check us out often and feel free to comment when you are so moved.
I characterize my post as more an assessment of Senator Chaudhary's job performance rather than an attack (fair or unfair). From my perspective the senator has miserably failed in performing his job and therefore should be ousted in the next election.
Regardless of whether or not he responds to communications (and in the several times I have tried he typically does not) Chaudhary's voting record is among the most liberal in the senate and, generally speaking, liberalism is antithetical to liberty, freedom, and economic prosperity. People of his ilk holding elected offices, especially as part of the Senate majority, is a major contributor to why Minnesota is one of the highest taxed states in the nation, why crime in the cities is growing out of control, and why the government meddles in people's lives where it has no legitimate or moral reason to. Chaudhary's condescending demeanor, while a secondary factor in justifying his removal, is still reflective of the attitude he brings to the job.
Did you take some time to study the information presented in some of the links? I find it hard to understand how anyone can assert that Senator Chaudhary is "one who does not bow down to the special interests". Incidentally, I really don't like the "special" modifier. It seems that it has been used by those on the left to vilify conservative interests and tenets. Liberal interests are just as "special" as those of conservatives, and Chaudhary always seems to support the liberal ones, no matter how wacky they are or how much they infringe on freedom.
Liberalism is a social and economic disease that attacks liberty and societal well being, and Senator Chaudhary's job performance is a manifestation of the malady that can be cured by the people of District 50 by voting him out of office.
