McCain-Pawlenty??

It pains me to write this, but Governor Pawlenty doesn't get it. Earlier today he announced on the Bill Bennett radio show that he has joined the John McCain for President exploratory committee as its National Co-Chair.

Critics of McCain claim that he is no conservative. Just look at Campaign Finance Reform (a.k.a. The Incumbency Protection Act) and immigration. Pawlenty rebuffed this criticism saying that each of the leading candidates would fail to stand up to the conservative test if you looked at individual issues. But, none of the leading candidates has worked harder to rebuff the President than John McCain.

McCain is a Party of One. When the President needed conservative Republicans to rally behind him, McCain would stand against him.

Pawlenty used the word "elect ability" as reason for supporting McCain. But, Republicans didn't lose big this passed election because they weren't "electable". They lost because they fell short as team players – because they failed to rally behind the President as a unified force of conservatism. Unfortunately, McCain and his Gang of Seven led the divide among conservatives in office. Sadly, Pawlenty doesn't understand what went wrong last year and what must be done in 2008 to Right the Nation.
