Oops--Pelosi's Pro Status Quo After All

Never mind ... Madame Speaker has turned out to be as humdrum as we thought: go here for the true dish on the Farm Bill.

National Review's editors are glum about the prospects for any far-reaching reform of ag subsidies. But I can't be the only one watching the prices of commodities soar to historically high records, and shortages of crops other than corn develop due to the ethanol subsidies, thinking: "Now!!! Now!!! While ice cream is expensive in the peak heat of summer!" Come on, Fred Thompson, don't you have the balls to take on Archer Daniels Midland? Don't you have the staff to craft a message that anticipates all the whining by appealing to the need to protect consumers from the moneygrubbing corporations?
