Eminent Domain Still Threatens New Brighton

Despite changes in the law, New Brighton can still use Eminent Domain to give your property to a private developer. Consider this a WARNING. Eminent Domain abuse may NOT BE LIMITED to the Northwest Quadrant. If those who abused eminent domain are re-elected, they will claim a mandate for their past practices and be more emboldened to play SIM City with your land.

Only three candidates are dedicated to help you keep your property – and more of your income:

Yes, eminent domain was used for the NWQ project.
Here's some on the list:
-MidWest Asphalt
-Ferrell Gas
-Marudas Print
-Signation
-Dr. Froelick's rental land of the Post Office
----Mr. & Mrs. Nordquists' home so Biesswingers hardware could be relocated and built on top of it.
The city promised to hand over the land to developers BEFORE the city even OWNED the property!

The hostile property takings have been happening for years on end in New Brighton. Across from City Hall is another old example of the same. Mainstreet Villiage, the same, Tom Thumb was taken by eminent domain.

The city is currently "land banking' their purchase of old Harry's Bar located on Old Hwy 8 by the Dairy Queen because that area is planned to be next on the cities' aggressive plans to relocate businesses. Abuse of eminent domain can even be found in the green New Brighton History books' account of taking of a liquor store and property to put a municipal liquor store-seventh to the last line on pp 127 ie "The Council ...advised that if the offer was NOT accepted the Villiage would begin condemnation proceedings." Yep, it was a "take the offer or we will take your property anyway" offer... history is just repeating itself in New Brighton. Will the cycle ever end?

The cycle will end when we elect people to the council who will not use ED. We have a chance in this election with both of the challengers for mayor as well as the two men who are running for council all being strongly against ED. It will be interesting to see if we finally rid ourselves of the power hungry clic that has been running this city however they wanted to for years.
