DFL Partisan Pile On

The DFL controlled Minnesota Senate dumped Carol Molnau as head of MNDOT in a naked display of partisan hardball politics. Make no mistake about it: this move was motivated strictly by politics and had nothing to do with concern for public safety or efficient operation of the agency. It was merely a piling on by the DFL to show their perceived clout.

No mention was made of an apology to Molnau for the past DFL accusations and innuendo that she was responsible for the I-35W bridge collapse.

On the top of the hour local news on the Rush Limbaugh Show, an unidentified DFLer let the truth slip out saying that Molnau was ousted because the DFL felt that she was "an impediment to increased transit spending" (as in "choo-choos and busses").

Hopefully Governor Pawlenty will respond in kind with a flurry of vetos to highlight the reckless spending that is sure to come and that the voters remember who was responsible for shaking them down this session and who tried to prevent it.

Not only vetoes, Daria. I'd also like to see him send someone even more controversial to MnDOT. It won't happen, but wouldn't Phil Krinkie be fun?

Turns out that this action was more than just partisan piling on. This morning on the Dan Conry Show Rep. Tom Emmer, the Deputy Minority Leader, stated flat out that he has it from good sources that the Molnau vote as timed as it was to grab the news headlines on the same day that the near $1 Billion budget deficit was announced. The tactic appears to have worked, judging from the early editions of the Star and Sickle and the Pravda Press.

The dead tree format liberal media is giving cover, both in pushing the story off of the front page and through some editorials, to the fact that when the socialists took over last year they had a $2 Billion surplus and spent us into a Billion dollar deficit in one year.

Governor Greenie Weenie should be at home actively fighting this nonsense rather than burning hydrocarbons flying all over the country stumping for McCain.

All true, RH. And I'm sure Emmer is right about the timing; the whole thing reeked of the cowardice that all bullies share. The one thing the DFL cannot abide is scrutiny.
