Qualified

Can we agree on one thing? Governor Sarah Palin proved herself last night to be as qualified to be Vice-President as John Edwards was in 2004. I would say more so, but that's my own particular bias.

As we wait around every four years for the candidates to choose their running mates, it is generally agreed that the primary role of the VP is to be ready at a moments notice to assume the responsibilities of the Presidency. Beyond that, the VP job is thought to be worth no more than a warm bucket of spit, as they say.

What will be taken away from last night's debate by those viewers who are not strong partisans is that Palin is ready. That was a question before the debate, and that uncertainty was dragging down the McCain/Palin ticket.

The VP debate is a pass/fail affair - you either prove yourself credible and do no harm or crash and burn. Palin passed easily and in doing so had a successful vice presidential debate.
