Thompson's Sad Holiday Cheer

Herein find Fred Thompson doing his bit to help us all feel better at Christmastime:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RKc4XFK0iVY

NOTE: since some commentators on YouTube seemed honestly confused--Thompson is joking. This is a not-so-sophisticated satire on the sad failure of liberals and conservatives alike to see the foolishness of bailing out the greedy, both rich and (by American standards) poor.

One does not make this argument, but one could be excused for arguing that at the moment, even the high drama of local politics pales in importance compared to the numbers one encounters at the level of federal action these days. One would be mistaken in this argument, at least in failing to make the connection that what is happening at the local level is just a smaller version of the credit addiction playing out on the national scene. While we attempt to wrest away the needle from the local citizenry and their local representatives, let us not forget to do the same for our national so-called representatives.
