Opening Another Fiscal Black Hole

Three new stations and three new stops are planned for the Central corridor Light Rail between Minneapolis and St. Paul. Both major city newspapers celebrated along with Senator Amy Klobuchar, Congressman James Oberstar and St. Paul Mayor Chris Coleman.

Aren’t the Central Corridor Light Rail fans forgetting a thing or two. Such as the extra time the three additional stations will take for stopping there. The whole system was predicated on saving time over buses or cars. The proposal by the Met Council for federal funds barely met the minimum requirement for saving time. Do standards get thrown out the window as soon a federal approval is given? And remember that after the billion dollar cost of building the light rail is paid, it will forever be subsidized by taxpayers. So we are opening up a fiscal black whole just as folks are waking up to obese government. Let’s stop this train now while we still can.

Don't forget folks there's an ongoing quarter percent Transit Tax in Ramsey County. No train yet, but you're paying for it already in several ways. County employees supposedly working on light rail are the second highest paid departmental group in the county.

If we don't stop it, this black hole will cost us dearly.
