Senator Satveer Chaudhary - Gone Fishin'...

...and hopefully gone for good after the election this November.

I don't have time to do a lengthy post (my private sector, non-union job calls), but this story in today's Star and Sickle is the latest appalling example of how Senator Satveer Chaudhary apparently feels that his self-perceived lofty position in the Minnesota Senate entitles him to perks and privileges we commoners don't have access to (other than, of course, to pay for them).

Senator Chaudhary has ostensibly been serving us the past 14 years, but we have very little to show for the senator's efforts. On the other hand he appears to have done quite well in the self-service department. He ever so modestly portrays himself as an avid hunter, and his favorite quarry appears to be new "revenue streams" (i.e. ways to transfer wealth from those who earn it to the government) to finance legislation that benefits his interests and hobbies as well as those of his open-palmed supporters.

The Strib story pretty much speaks for itself. Read it and "remember in November" when we can provide Senator Chaudhary the opportunity to gain some much needed character building experience with a private sector job.

Satveer appears to have a blind spot when it comes to conflict of interest.

Normally, the Star & Sickle protects a Democrat at all costs. So this is a head-scratcher. Front page above the fold! He must have ticked off the wrong people in his own party. Or, the Trib is developing a conscience at long last. Nah. I'll go with the ticked off part. Imagine, folks in his own party want Satveer gone.

Maybe the people will think this time before sending this goofball back to the senate. I didn't like his holeyer than thou attitude at a town hall meeting I went to a couple months ago. He acted like he was doing us a great favor just by showing up. This guy is sooooo full of himself. I don't know how to do a link but check out http://www.hometownsource.com/blogs/index.php/2010/05/20/republicans-write-letter-about-sen-satveer-chaudhary/

The Grand Forks Herald covered the story and said pretty much what the Star and Sickle did, but the last line of the story is interesting:

"Chaudhary is hosting an impromptu public meeting tonight to discuss the new law starting at 7 p.m. at Hi Banks Resort on Fish Lake."

As usual, the Chaudhary brass band of self horn-tooting seems to be warming up, but his timing on this one sucks. It can't be said that the good senator doesn't have chutzpah!
